Philipp Wallis Nicolai is a Northern Germany-based composer and sound artist.

His works include music for the orchestra, chamber music, and solo pieces, with or without electronics, and multimedia sound art installations.

Philipp plays the guitar and the piano as well as other instruments and studied composition with Katharina Rosenberger, Robin Hoffmann, and Nicola L. Hein, after completing a degree in physics.

In 2022, he was awarded the Composer’s Prize for Best Orchestral Composition (THAW) by the Musikhochschule Lübeck, and in 2023, he was a runner-up for the Possehl Award for New Performance Concepts (A Sound Vault for a Silent Future).

He is a keen fermenter and runner.
